Our introductory training materials for new staff. These sessions cover the basics to introducing a volunteer to the program and preparing them to work a shift at the center.
VOLUNTEER TRAINING MATERIALS
Introduction to the Center
This material gives a brief overview of the teen center and how it operates. This is best used in introductory meetings for those who are interested in finding out more about the program but have not yet committed to becoming a volunteer.
Volunteer Training Part 1
Part 1 covers the first two sections of the volunteer training: the centers and the volunteers. In this training the volunteer will learn why the center operates the way it does and what makes it uniquely effective and how to work a shift.
Volunteer Training Part 2
Part 2 covers the last two sections of the volunteer training: mentoring and discipline. In this training the volunteer will learn how to engage the lessons and build mentoring relationships with students. They will also learn how to handle discipline issues that may arise on their shifts.
